A Perfect Southern Hideaway Steeped in History at Willunga South Australia
PLEASE NOTE: WE HAVE A MINIMUM 5-NIGHT-STAY FOR BOOKINGS OVER THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY SEASON
Imagine staying in this classic piece of Willunga's rich history, just 50m from the popular Willunga markets surrounded by landscaped gardens and tall trees, complete with an inground solar-heated swimming pool and plenty of outdoor entertaining areas.
The decor and the ambience will have you smiling as soon as you open the door and walk into a classic living area with a slow combustion heater to keep you warm and cosy in the cooler months. The brightly coloured furniture complements the dark timbers and the Willunga slate floors of this quirky, comfortable, 'post and beam' style house. There are two separate living areas to relax, watch television or read in comfort. An adjacent old-world dining room perfect for an intimate dinner with family and friends. A modern kitchen has all the appliances and the essentials to cook up a chef's treat.
The master bedroom is located on the ground floor, a curious design, characteristic of an 1800's cottage. A lead light door provides access to a timeless ensuite and walk in robe. There is also a character bathroom off the main living area with a curved iron shower recess which adds to the interesting character of the home.
Meander up the wooden staircase to an open landing where there is another nook to read, relax and watch television. The landing opens onto two bedrooms with a queen bed in one and two king-single beds in the other, cheerfully decorated to blend with the character of the cottage.
If you are history buff, a lover of the old and new world, wishing to soak up the lifestyle and the wonders of the local cafes, enjoying the fruits of the markets and the whole experience of the McLaren Vale wine region including wine tasting and dining at the local wineries, then a stay at Self's cottage is a must.
Tourist attractions include the Willunga Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, Willunga Almond Blossom Festival in November and the Tour Down Under in January to name a few.
